Infra-red Light Therapy
Light Therapy pads use very specific wavelengths of light. (660 nm & 880 nm) There are many studies on light therapy that show these specific wavelengths have many powerful therapeutic and healing benefits. The therapeutic effects are the result of light energy absorption at the cellular level which is then used to heal tissue faster. The key to providing effective Light Therapy is to use specific light wavelengths. The two wavelengths are in the near-infrared and infrared spectrums. The near-infrared wavelength visible red is effective for stimulating acupuncture points, releasing trigger points, treating wounds and infections. The infrared wavelength not visible, which penetrates deeper, has been shown to be effective in helping heal soft tissue injuries, joints and muscles.
Some of the benefits may include:
Arthritis pain, bursitis, bruising, burns, edema, deep muscle problems, hematomas, inflammation, tight or sore muscles and infections. Ankle problems, bone chips, hock problems, inflammation, ligament soreness, tendon problems, splints, strains, stifle issues, sprains, swelling, shoulder pain, hip pain, sore backs, sore necks, salivary gland problems, wounds, cuts, scrapes and for stimulating trigger points and acupuncture points. It can aid in the healing of abscesses, bone spurs, inflammation, navicular, ringbone and laminitis.
Ways Light therapy works:
1. Increasing circulation by the formation of new capillaries
2. Increasing in wound healing with less formation of scar tissue
3. Reducing edema
4. Increasing Lymphatic flow facilitating drainage of fluids from areas of swelling
5. Relaxing of muscles
6. Stimulation of collagen production giving the body strength and preventing pathogens from entering the body
7. Stimulation of trigger and acupuncture points
8. Analgesic properties the photo energy stimulates the production of the body’s natural pain killers (endorphins)
